Deer stops Gardiner traffic

A deer brought traffic to a stop on the Gardiner Expressway for nearly three hours Monday.

The highway was first shutdown around 11:30 in the morning near Park Lawn. Police and animal services managed to steer it into a bush along the expressway where it was tranquilized and taken to a facility to be monitored. All lanes were reopened just before 2:30 — just as people were coming home from the Victoria Day long weekend.
