Crash closes Linc

(Update)
There’s been a devastating crash on the eastbound Lincoln Alexander Parkway at Upper Paradise tonight.
Four people have been taken to hospital — and the Linc has been shut down in both directions between Golf Links Road, and Garth.
This happened just before seven o’clock this evening — when a small car with a single male driver — heading west on the Linc crossed the median, and slammed into two other eastbound cars.
Bits and pieces of car parts and trim were scattered for a hundred meters down the Linc, as emergency workers scrambled to free two people trapped in their vehicles while — on the side of the road, EMS workers tended to a young woman with serious injuries. The small yellow car that crossed the median ended up underneath the overpass at Upper Paradise, battered almost beyond recognition. Its rear tire was lying several meters east of where the car came to rest, and police are not sure whether it separated from the vehicle before the crash, causing the driver to lose control, or whether it was separated by the impact of the collision.
Scores of people lined the sidewalk on the overpass watching — as police shut down the Linc, and began to turn traffic around to clear the road.
At this time, we’ve been told that traffic reconstruction teams have been called in, and that the Linc will remain closed for several hours, while police conduct a thorough investigation.
Police are still looking for witnesses who may have seen any part of the accident, to call the number that is on the screen. Police believe the Linc will be re-opened early in the morning, and traffic should be moving normally, for the morning rush.
