Boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter dies at 76

A man who became a shining light for the wrongly convicted has died. Rubin “Hurricane” Carter spent 19 years in jail for a triple murder that he did not commit. Carter was an accomplished boxer during a time of extreme racial tensions and inequality for black Americans. The New Jersey native was sent to jail in 1967. He was given a second trial in 1976, but was once again convicted. Carter was finally released in 1985 with the help of Canadians. Perdita Felicien has the story.
