People across Canada are taking a stand to end bulling today for the International Day of Pink.

The day started in Nova Scotia in 2007, when two students saw a fellow classmate being bullied for wearing pink. They were able to get hundreds of students to also wear pink to support him.

This morning members of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 107 gathered at Main and MacNab in downtown Hamilton to celebrate diversity and help put an end to all forms of bullying.

Eric Tuck, VP of ATU Local 107 explains: “Last year alone we had over 2,000 bus operators assaulted in Canada so we’re trying to draw awareness and get involved in the public campaign to end bullying.”

Students at Prince Philip Elementary in Hamilton are also taking part in the day. There will be a live band and a pizza party, sponsored by the transit union.
