Cowessess First Nation say at least 751 unmarked graves have been discovered on the former site of the Marieval Indian Residential School.

They could not confirm the bodies discovered were all children

“This could be triggering for many…we always knew there were graves here.”

Chief Cadmus Delorme said headstones were once there, but they were removed by the Catholic church and never put back.

The Cowessess First Nation says they are treating it as a crime scene.

The discovery comes less than a month after 215 bodies were found on the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C.

Radar searches continue around each residential school in Canada.
