70-year-old Beamsville man charged with attempted murder

A 70-year-old man from Beamsville has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a woman Saturday afternoon.
Niagara Regional Police were first called for reports of two men fighting in front of a house near Central and Lynnwood Ave. in Grimsby.
Officers found a 41-year-old woman suffering from serious stab wounds at the scene when they arrived. Members of Niagara EMS were called and the victim was taken to hospital where she remains in serious but stable condition.

Police say the fight was between the suspect and a good Samaritan who heard the attack on the woman and came to help. The suspect and the victim reportedly knew each other.
Allan Timko, 70, of Beamsville was arrested at the scene and is charged with attempted murder.
He appeared before court on Sunday and was remanded into the custody of Ontario Correctional Services.
