39-year-old man charged with attempted murder in Niagara Falls

Niagara police have charged a 39-year-old man with attempted murder following a stabbing at an encampment in Niagara Falls on Monday.
Officers responded shortly before 10 a.m. to an encampment in the area of Victoria Avenue and Buttrey Street, where they found a 37-year-old man who was assaulted with a weapon.
Paramedics transported the man to hospital with injuries that were first reported as life-threatening, but have since been downgraded to non-life-threatening.

An investigation led to the arrest of Mark Terrance Stacey, 39, who has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and assault with a weapon.
Stacey is scheduled to attend a bail hearing in St. Catharines.
