29-year-old Hamilton man killed in Friday night shooting

Hamilton police are investigating after a 29-year-old man was shot and killed in the Strathcona neighbourhood Friday night.

Police say they were called to the area of York Boulevard and Queen Street around 10:50 p.m. for reports of gunshots fired.

Officers found one man suffering from a gunshot wound and he was taken to hospital where he later died.

Police have identified the victim as 29-year-old Daniel Musafiri of Hamilton.

In the incident Friday night, witnesses report seeing suspects flee the area although no suspect description is available at this time.

Police believe this to be a targeted shooting, and residents can expect to see a police presence in the area as officers continue to investigate.
