24-year-old from Milton dead after crash north of Peterborough

A 24-year-old from Milton has died following a single-vehicle collision north of Peterborough on Tuesday.

Ontario Provincial Police say a vehicle was traveling westbound on Pinehill Road in Selwyn Township when it left the roadway and struck a tree, landing on its side.

Firefighters worked to extricate the driver from the vehicle but their injuries were too extensive and they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Pinehill Road was closed for several hours from 5th Line of Selwyn to Steinkrauss Drive for a police investigation but reopened before 8 p.m.
