2 Niagara men charged after $50K in tools, 20 computers stolen

Two men are facing charges in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of power tools and 20 computers from an elementary school in Welland.

Niagara police launched an investigation earlier this month into a series of break-ins throughout Welland.

Investigators identified two suspects and arrested them Wednesday.

Officers then carried out multiple search warrants in the area of Rolling Acres Drive and Champlain Avenue, where they found 20 computers and several backpacks from Quaker Road Public School and $50,000 worth of power tools from two construction sites.

Jonathan Mamone, 29, of Welland has been charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

Jonathan was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Steven Mamone, 29, was charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Steven was released from custody with a future court date.
