Sister of man involved in Burlington hit-and-run speaks out

First Published:

The sister of a man struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run in Burlington on Sunday is speaking out.

She says she’s not sure if her 35-year-old brother – who remains in hospital – will ever fully recover after the terrifying incident near the Burlington GO station.

Samantha Kitchen says her brother Jordan was the person who was struck in a hit-and-run while crossing Fairview Street just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday night.

“When I went and saw him, the state he was in, it made me unsure whether he would recover or not,” Kitchen said.

Kitchen says she doesn’t believe her brother would’ve survived if he wasn’t found.

“Yeah, just hit a human to that extent, where his injuries are so severe that if somebody hadn’t found him, like I don’t know what would’ve happened.”

She says Jordan is gradually recovering.

“He’s still in the ICU, he’s getting a little bit better but he’s pretty beat up, he’s not able to talk right now but hopefully they’re saying he’s gonna make a recovery.”

Kitchen says Jordan is now breathing on his own after doctors removed a breathing tube Tuesday afternoon.

As for the investigation, so far there is no description of the suspect vehicle, but Halton police tell us they are still looking into what happened and are asking drivers who were in the area at the time, to check their dashboard cameras.

Kitchen is also asking for the public’s help.

“If anyone knows anything, even if they think it’s irrelevant, to let the police know because it’s just not right what happened.”
