Police investigating after a homicide in Oakville

Update: Halton police say 19 year old Keegan Parkinson of Oakville was targeted when he was gunned down on Rebecca st.

 

A 19-year-old man is dead after what police are calling a “targeted” shooting in Oakville.

They say he was gunned down just after 11 last night.

Halton Police were called to this house on Rebecca street near Maurice and Dorval drive after gunshots were fired in this quiet Oakville neighbourhood around 11:15 last night.

“It’s extremely out of ordinary for the area.”

Paramedics along with dozens of heavily armed police officers responded to find the body of a teen laying on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His lifeless body was covered by tarps.

Police believe the shooting was targeted.

“I want to assure the community the Halton Regional Police are employing all possible resources to solving this crime.”

Throughout the night officers guarded the scene. The K-9 unit and homicide investigators canvassed the area for evidence and drones were used to look for possible clues.

Today, neighbours woke up to find a Halton Police command post set up, police and forensic investigators still working at the scene, collecting any possible evidence.

Residents expressed their shock:

“It is very unsettling. You just can’t imagine this would happen in Oakville.”

Police anticipate their investigation will continue for the next few days.

“We’re urging members of the public and anyone who may have seen anything, witnessed anything, dash cams or their own security to call Halton Regional Police.”

Investigators telling CHCH that they are looking for two men believed to be in their late teens or early 20s but they do not have exact descriptions just yet.
