Person arrested, Delhi’s hold and secure lifted

First Published:

Some residents in Delhi were asked to shelter in place Tuesday morning after provincial police received reports of a person with a weapon.

The initial call came in shortly after 7 a.m. and shut down part of Gibralter Street, between Crosier Street and Ewell Street.

Police say a man in the area was threatening officers with an edged weapon.

At the time of the call, police took to social media to issue a hold and secure, asking nearby residents to remain indoors.

“Keep your children home from school. Updates will be provided as soon as possible,” police said in a post on social media.

The situation was resolved less than two hours later, and police say the man was taken into custody without incident.

Rory Seguin, 23, of Norfolk County is charged with the possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing at court in Simcoe.

Police say Gibralter Street between Crosier Street and Ewell Street has since reopened.
