It was the biggest blaze in Hamilton’s history. Sunday marks 20 years since the Plastimet industrial fire spewed toxic smoke across the city.
The fire burned for three days but the fallout lasted years. Many lessons were learned and it was the catalyst for changes for firefighters and their families.
Even though it was 20 years ago, for the firefighters who responded and the residents who still live in this neighbourhood, memories are still fresh.
