Motorcyclist who taunted Niagara police while doing wheelies remains at large

First Published:

Niagara police say they’re hunting for an elusive motorcyclist who tried to bait them into a pursuit.

On Sunday, officers were called to Derby Road and Conway Place after someone reported a motorcyclist driving dangerously in the area around 10 p.m.

Twenty minutes later, another officer spotted a man who matched the description driving a sports bike near Ridgeway Road and Roxborough Road.

Police say that the motorcyclist was travelling at a high rate of speed and performing wheelies, before driving up and down the street in an attempt to “bait police into a pursuit.”

In an update released Monday, authorities say they opted not to initiate a pursuit out of a concern for public safety. Instead, they are circling several photos of the suspect and asking the public to keep an eye out.

The driver is described as a white man with a thin build. He wore a dark helmet with a face shield, dark jacket or sweater with white writing on the back.

His bike is described as a red and white sport bike.

Anyone with information is asked to call authorities by dialling 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009558.
