Man assaulted with bear mace
A man was sprayed in the face with bear mace while walking in Brantford.
A man was walking down Tom Street on Wednesday, when he was approached by a silver Pontiac Grand Prix. One of the four people in the car asked for a cigarette, but the man said he didn’t smoke. He then continued to walk, but was approached again by the same car on Webling Street. When he approached the car, he was sprayed in the face with bear mace, and then the car drove off.
The man was treated at the scene but not taken to hospital.
Later that afternoon he saw one of the people in that was in the car and called Brantford police. They arrested the man.
A 23 year-old Brantford man is charged with Assault with a Weapon and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon. The bear mace was seized as evidence. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date.
