Hamilton police release video of suspect in downtown shooting

First Published:

Hamilton police have released video of a daylight shooting on Monday that saw an innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet.

The video shows a man holding a gun getting out of a grey BMW sedan, with Ontario licence plate CPTP 787.

There is no sound on the video, but the man is seen ducking behind the vehicle several times before getting in again and driving away.

Multiple witnesses reported hearing gunshots around 11:15 a.m. in an alleyway at King Street East and East Avenue North.

Police say an innocent bystander in the area, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being grazed by a stray bullet. He has since been released.

Investigators believe the shooting took place between two people, with evidence suggesting they were both armed.
